Veterans Day
President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed an Armistice Day for November 11, 1919 by saying, "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with lots of pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations." Below are some quotes to help us reflect on Veteran’s Day as we honor the men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedom.
"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." - John F Kennedy
"This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave." - Elmer Davis
"When our perils are past, shall our gratitude sleep?" -George Canning
"Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die." -G.K. Chesterton
"We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude." - Cynthia Ozick
As a way to say thank you to our veterans, SnapDragon Associates will extend our guarantee period for a full year to any client who hires a veteran in the month of November. We thank our veterans and their families as we are reminded that freedom is not free.
